Tomorrow’s professionals: How we support young talent at SCIO Automation

Written by SCIO Automation | Mar 18, 2026 8:15:53 AM

The job market is changing – and so are the paths into professional life. At SCIO, that means one thing above all: listening early and offering real insight. Because anyone who wants to find out whether a profession, a degree program or a company is the right fit needs more than job ads. They need connection. That’s exactly where we come in. With a wide range of opportunities around apprenticeships, studies and career orientation, we want to give young people an honest look at who we are, what we do and how we work. In this article, we take a closer look at what getting started at SCIO Automation can look like.

Looking for a future‑focused education where hands‑on experience really matters?

At the SCIO Group, there is no single path into a career. Apprenticeships, dual study programs, practice‑oriented degree programs or simply a first, no‑pressure insight – for us, all of this belongs together. Across our locations, we deliberately create different ways to connect early on. Through school projects, partnerships, internships or direct conversations with our teams, we want to openly show what everyday work in our teams really looks like.

Being present – where questions arise and the future begins

Career fairs and regional career events are important touchpoints for us to engage with young people. Whether students, undergraduates or career changers – we aim to provide orientation, answer questions and offer realistic insights into roles, career paths and our company culture.

What does that look like in practice – and where can you meet us?

While our Fabmatics team in Dresden supports students through targeted funding programs and early access to knowledge and career guidance, our teams from Ladenburg and VESCON Process support young talent as a partner of the Baden‑Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW). That's why our experts from Ladenburg takes part in events such as the Campus Day in Mannheim – focused on getting to know

… the university,
… the students, and
… our teams as a dual practice partner.

This year, the team brought along a simulation model of a production line, giving visitors a hands‑on impression of industrial processes and the automation environment our Ladenburg team works in.

Our apprenticeship academy in Osterhofen also became a place for personal exchange. From day one, apprentices gain practical experience, work with modern technology and grow step by step into their roles. To mark the second anniversary of our self‑initiated Open Apprenticeship Day, around 30 visitors – students and parents alike – took the opportunity to learn more about four apprenticeship programs:
  • Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering
  • Industrial Mechanic
  • Warehouse Logistics Specialist
  • Technical Product Designer

“My apprenticeship at SCIO was incredibly educational, interesting and exciting. From day one, I was right in the middle of things – whether at the academy, on site or building control cabinets. What I appreciated most was the strong team spirit and the friendly way everyone worked together.” - Fabian Fellner, Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering and former apprentice in Osterhofen.

Trying things out for yourself? Absolutely. In small hands‑on stations, visitors could experiment and discover typical tasks across different professions – the perfect way to start relaxed conversations with our team and gain first practical impressions.

“With an apprenticeship at SCIO Automation, you can already help shape the future today. We look back on nearly 40 years of apprenticeship experience at our Osterhofen site. Supporting and challenging apprentices has always been at the heart of what we do. To meet growing market demands, we founded our academy ten years ago. On open Apprenticeship Day, we open our doors to students and invite them to continue this success story with us.” - Martin Brandmeier, Plant Manager Osterhofen

Strong together – beyond our own locations

Together with strong partners, we work to sustainably support young talent – because responsibility doesn’t stop at the factory gate. As a DHBW partner, VESCON Process therefore also supports students from other companies with exam preparation or their bachelor’s theses - highlighting how important a strong training network is to us, even internationally. Our U.S. locations regularly open their doors as well, offering transparent insights into modern working and training environments.

Shaping the future – together, with and for tomorrow’s talent

Whether at career fairs, in training workshops, behind‑the‑scenes insights or regional partnerships: we invest today in the people who will shape tomorrow. This is how we take responsibility – for our employees, for society and for a strong, sustainable world of work.
